
Lewis Hamilton has won the Chinese Grand Prix ahead of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen from Ferrari, to score his fifth victory of the season,the ninth throughout his F1 career.
Behind the podium trio was Alonso, who had won the last two races, with Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica fifth and sixth, the latter now out of the running as far as the title is concerned.They were followed by Toyota's Timo Glock with a one-stop strategyand Nelson Piquet,had a strong run in Renault, brought one point to team with finishing eighth.
The win had increased Hamilton's lead in clinching the champion title to 7 points,deciding him most likely to be the youngest Formula One world champion. Before the last Grand Prix in Brazil this season, Ferrari lead the Constructor's Championship by 11 points.
In the race,Hamilton had a dream start,easily beat the Ferraris into the first corner and Alonso finally got the better of McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen as they fought forthe fourth. On the other side at opening corner, Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Bourdais send Jarno Trulli’s Toyota into a spin as the Italian caught by the French,which cause Bourdais himself badly delayed and Trulli made one pit stop at the end of the lap and another a lap later, being the first to retire in China this year.
The other non-finishers were only two, Adrian Sutil and Kovalainen,The former stopped his Force Indiaon the entry to the pits on lap 13, and Kovalainen, had a struggling with Renault's Alonso at start, fell from fifth place to the tail of the field on lap 35 induced by its flat right front Bridgestone tyre which suffered a puncture, only to end inparking his car in the garage with a mechanical problem.
After the completing top 8, there were no points for Sebastian Vettel and Toro Rosso as they finished ninth, ahead of Red Bull’s David Coulthard who would finish his F1 career this season and Rubens Barrichello,still on good form for Honda.Ranking the 12th was Williams's Kazuki Nakajima ,another one-stopper,followed by Bourdais who lost the time as tipping with Trulli at start, Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Williams's teammate Nico Rosberg. Honda's Jenson Buttonand Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella became the last two in 17 finishers.
Back to the winner,Hamilton finished an easy 14.9secs clear of Massa who passed Raikkonen in expectation on lap 50 shortly after trailing by a second.With a pole-to-flag victory and claiming the fastest lap in Chinese Grand Prix this season,the Briton proves as he said "I will be back" after he slid into the gravel trap on severely-worn tyres and a damp track which cost him the titlelast year.
